1. Can anyone other than Brian understand Stewie?
2. Does Stewie sing "Laugh & Cry" or "F'in Cry" during the opening theme song?
3. Why was Family Guy canceled in the first place?
4. Were scenes cut out of the DVD?
1. Seth has said in an interview that everyone understands him, but since he is a baby they don't take what he
says seriously. Brian and Stewie always talk to each other, and Brian understands Stewie perfectly. Here and there, you'll see other
characters understanding what Stewie says, but this is only to add comedy to the scene.
2. Again, Seth has stated that it was always "Laugh and Cry;" however there is an obvious change from the first few episode
openings to the ones later in the season. Perhaps it was, at one point, "f'in cry" and Seth had it changed (FOX orders). Another
theory is that it was always "laugh and cry," but since there was a dispute about it, Seth had it changed to sound more like "laugh and cry,"
which would explain the change from the beginning episodes.
3. Either a) FOX wouldn't sign another season due to poor ratings or b) FOX wouldn't sign due to the sometimes hidden racism,
bad language, and references (Osama Bin Laden, JFK assassination, etc.). Most people believe the reason is poor ratings, however.
4. Yes, two controversial scenes were cut (they can be found in our videos section). From the Volume 1 DVD, a scene showing
Osama Bin Laden singing show tunes was cut from the episode
Road to Rhode Island. The scene shows Osama sneaking guns through security,
which is obviously controversial and was produced BEFORE September 11th. The other scene shows a JFK Pez dispenser being shot. This scene
does appear in the UK DVD sets, however.
